INTRODUCTION
Dear collegues !
Optional theme of English 6 is set up from the textbook of English 6 and process of developing new optional theme of lower secondary education is a new point in the syllabus and textbook. Therefore, some dimensions needed to harness when teaching and conceptions of optional theme for the cognitive development of students in general.
This model material consists of three main parts ;
-Part 1 : Organizing the Games ( Teacher can choose one of the available games ) in each theme (lesson) aimed to warm up the students` learning motivations and based on each Unit of the textbook.
-Part 2 : Giving Grammar notes that teachers may have a application of the method flexibly to present and avoid applying mechanically for students. I mean; "Learner Centred Teaching". Teachers can select the main grammatical points for practice.
To have a lively practice,Teachers should use suitable teaching aids and then to show students to work in pairs, in groups or individually.
-Part 3 : Skills practice : Some points for attention :
The teachers themselves organize and present the language items/focus in listening, speaking, reading, writing following the topics / themes and competences. But up to the teachers mainly and basing on factual situations.
It is only the outline of compiling, piloting and proposing models for optional theme.It is used for reference only ! EspeciaIly, I pay attention to compiling multiple choice-exercises in focus and some of different forms of exercises including the fundamental and advanced exercises.
By the end of the syllabus/course, there is a progress test ( Maybe, it`s up to the teachers` plan ) to have a general assessment of student achievements in English.
On the method, we make sure students to understand the fundamental knowledges in textbook. Moreover, students have chance to practice some necessary skills. Basically, it is up to the ability of the teachers. And depending on current situation of teaching at schools.
- The specific steps for the activities are up to the teachers. It is only a skeleton.
-Although it is a reference material, it is totally suitable for both weak students and strong students.
I hope that, in my pilot scheme. I would like to share difficulties, hardness to you. It may help you to improve your teaching results, too.

Week : 2
Unit 1
I - Objectives :
By the end of the lesson, students will be able to have chance to play games, use the model sentences and language items of Unit 1 for practice and do the based and advanced exercises.
II- Teaching procedure :
Work
A - Warm up :
practice the cardinal numbers ;
Teacher can choose one of the following games :
1-"Slap the board"
- Put the numbers all over
the board.
`
-Call 2 Ss or 2 teams of Ss to the front
of the class. Ask them to stand at an
equal distance from the board.
- Teacher calls out one of the numbers ( in Vietnamese ) in aloud voice, the 2 Ss must run forward and slap the number on the board. The one who first slaps the correct number is the winner.
If Ss play in the team, the winning team gets a mark. Then ask two more ss to come forward, etc ....
2-"Pelmanism"
Steps :
-Prepare 12 cards with numbers on one side and the words on the other.
Make sure the words ( numbers ) are mixed up.
Stick the cards on the board so Ss can only see the numbers.
Turn the cards over and see if they match.
Eg : eleven - 11, give them one mark. If not, turn the cards over again and ask the next team.
Continue until all the cards are finish.
3-"Jumbled words"
Selected words are up to the teachers
Steps:
-Write the words whose letters are in a random order on the board.
-divide the class into 2 teams. Ss from 2 teams go to the board and write the correct words.
-The team which writes more correct words first wins the game.
4-"Lucky numbers"
-Write 10 numbers on the board, from 1 to 10.
