In December 1976, it was officially named as it is called today: Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union. However people normally use the name ‘ The Youth Union’for short.
The Youth Union, together with other youth organizations such as the Young Pinioneers Organization, the Vietnam Youth Federation, the Vietnam Students Union, often hold social activities such as Helping the Handicapped, Cleaning the Environment,Green Summer Volunteers Campaign, and other similar movements. The activities aim to help the young develop their public awareness and form their personality.
Ever since the Union was founded,its aims and principles, established by president Ho Chi Minh, have been the guidelines for the young vietnamese people of today and tomorrow.

Liên Hiệp Thanh Niên Cộng Sản Hồ Chí Minh là một tổ chức cho thanh niên Việt Nam tuổi từ 15 ®Õn 30. Lên Hiệp xây dưng mang những đặt tính tốt , tình yêu dân tộc, và khuyến khích công dân tốt, những kĩ năng và cá nhân thích hợp .

Liên Hiệp đã thành lập vào ngày 26 tháng 03, 1931 bởi Chủ Tịch Hồ Chí Minh kính yêu: Nó có tên khác nhau trong nhiều năm, một trong số những tên: Liên Hiệp Thanh Niên Cộng Sản Việt nam,Vào tháng 12,năm 1976 nó chính thức có tên Liên Hiệp Thanh Niên Cộng Sản Hồ Chí Minh. Tuy nhiên, người dân thường sử dụng tên ‘Liên Hiệp Thanh niên’ Cho ngắn.

Liên Hiệp Thanh Niên cùng với những tổ chức thanh niên khác như: Tổ chứ thanh niên xung phong,Liên đoàn thanh niên Việt nam, Liên Đoàn Sinh Viên Việt Nam thường tổ chức những hoạt động xã hội : Giúp đỡ người tàn tật, làm sạch môi trường, chiến dịch mùa hè xanh, và những hoạt động tương tự khác.Những hoạt động mục đích giúp đỡ phát triễn sớm ý thức chung và hình thành tính cách cá nhân của họ.

Kể từ đó Liên hiệp đã được thành lập nền , những mục tiêu và những nguyên lý của nó đã được thiết lập bởi chủ Tịch Hồ Chí Minh. Nó đã hướng dẫn cho người Việt nam trẻ hôm nay và mai sau.
