Lesson 2 A closer look 1
I./. Objectives
By the end of the lesson, students can:
Use the lexical items related to the topic “My neighborhood”.
Pronounce correctly the sounds /i:/ and /i/ in isolation and in context.
Use adjectives to compare things.
Talk about different places and show directions to these in a neighborhood

Vocabulary: words related to the topic “My neighborhood”
Structure: Making suggestions.

I. Warm up
- T. asks Ss to look at the picture on P40.
- T. asks Ss some questions about the pictures and asks Ss to say their feeling about those picture
II. Presentation
* Vocabulary.
T. uses picture and elicits words from Ss
Rub out and remember
* Pronunciation.
T. expresses how to pronounce sound /i:/ and /i/
T. plays the recording, Ss listen and put the words in the correct column.
III. Practice
Task 1.
T. asks Ss to work in group of four.
Ss look at the pictures and find a word to fill in the blanket.
T. plays the recording and Ss correct their answers.
Task 2
Ss work in groups and play game.
T. has 14 papers. Then divides class into 2 groups.
+ G1 has 7 words in the box
+ G2 has 7 words opposite the words in the box
- G1 go to the board and stick a word on the board and G2 has to give the word opposite it.
Task 3.
Ss work in pairs
T. calls some pair practice before class.

T. plays the recording and asks Ss to listen and circle the words they hear.

Ss listen to the recording and repeat.
