LANGUAGE FOCUS.
* – ing participles
.. Say who each person is.
LANGUAGE FOCUS 1.
The man walking up the stairs is Mr. Quang.
- The woman carrying a bag is Miss Lien.
- The boy standing next to Miss Lien is Nam.
Grammar
- The girl ….
STUDY:
The boy reading a book is Ba.
The clause "reading a book" is called "- ing participles"
The sentence can be written like this:
The boy is reading a book. He is Ba = The boy is Ba. The boy is reading a book.
Grammar of “– ing participles”
NOTES:
"- ing participles" are used to join 2 clauses into 1.
Clauses with "- ing participles" must be in active meaning. (The boy is reading)
* - ed participles

LANGUAGE FOCUS 2.
-The box painted green is one dollar.
- The truck made from recycled aluminum cans is $ 2.
- The doll dressed in pink is two dollars.
-The flowers wrapped in.
- The toys kept in .
Grammar
STUDY:
The old lamp made in China is $ 5.
Clause “made in China” is called “– ed participles”
The sentence can be written like this:
The old lamp is $ 5. The old lamp is made in China.
Grammar of “– ed participles”
NOTES:
“– ed participles” are used to join 2 clauses into 1.
Clauses with “– ed participles” must be in passive meaning. (The boy is reading)
* Use “mind” in requests
.. Work with a partner..

b) Would you mind putting out your cigarettes? - No, of course not.
c) Would you mind getting me some coffee? - I`m sorry, I`m too busy right now.
- Would you mind waiting a moment?
I’m sorry, I can’t.
* Use “mind” in requests
