Unit 11: National parks

Objectives: By the end of the lesson, Ss will be able to:
- distinguish and pronounce the sounds /t/ and /d/ clearly and correctly
- use conditional sentence type 3 correctly in speaking and writing.

Teaching aids: - board, chalk, textbook, lesson plan
- pictures, handouts.
Teaching method: Mainly communicative approach

1. Lead in
Game: Listen and write
- T asks Ss to close textbook and write down the words they listen

+ team, ten, top, touch, matter , protect, worked, hoped

+ die, door, damage, dance, intend, depend, cleaned, arrived

- T and Ss check again the words. (posters)
- T gives candy for Ss who get more than ten correct words.
( Lead to the lesson
2. Presentation of the two sound /t/ and /d/.

( /t/ : ten ,top, table…
( / t/ : nature, question…
( /t/ potential, essential…
( past tense regular verbs: ed /t/ when the end sounds:
/p /k/f/s/ss/sh/ch
Example:hoped, worked, watched..

Example: arrived, played,…..

3. Controlled practice
T has some Ss read aloud the words on the poster and correct if necessary, others listen

4. Further practice
T let Ss read the words on poster and any words that they think of in 2 minutes by themselves without any correction.


Read turn by turn the words containing “t” or “d”
