Lesson 1: Getting Started _ Listen & Read
I. AIMS: To give Ss information about the environmental problem.
II. OBJECTIVES : By the end of the lesson, Ss will be able to do something to protect the environment and save natural resources.
III. TEACHING AIDS : cassette player, posters, pictures
IV. TEACHING PROCEDURE:
CONTENTS

(Warm up Brainstorm:
Ways to reduce the amounts of the garbage.
- reuse plastic bags.
- use cloth bags.
- use tree leaves to wrap things.
- make garbage into fertilizer.
- make garbage matter into animal food.
(Pre teach vocabularies:
- a representative :
- to protect : to keep something/ somebody save from the others
- natural resources :
- to recycle : to use again.
- to overpackage :
What and where
(Introduction:
(.Miss Blake is talking to the students of Quang Trung school how to protect the environment, and protect the natural resources.
(Listen to the tape/ recording twice (p.89)
(Practice the dialogue in pairs.
Students practice the dialogue in pairs.
(Do some tasks:
( Answer the questions.(p.90)
(Answer key
Reduce means not buying products which are overpackaged.
We can reuse thing like envelopes, glasses and plastic bottles and old plastics
Recycle means not throw things away. Try and find another use for them.
We can look for information on recycling things by have contact with an organization like Friends of the Earth, going to the local, or asking our family and friends.
Because plastic bags can’t be reused as many time as cloth bags.
(Isolating the structures:
It is not difficult to remember because all the three words begin with the letter R.
( Adjectives followed by infinitive.
(Production
Make some sentences with this structure.
It’s easy to answer her questions

I. Aims: - Help Ss to practice in giving and responding to instructions .
- Help Ss to practice listening for a specific information about making compost.
II Objectives :
- By the end of the lesson, Ss will be able to give and respond to the instructions - - By listening to the tape, they can give and respond the instructions about making compost.
III. TEACHING AIDS : cassette player, posters, pictures

Stick the picture in page 20 and then put it away.
