Let’s begin
Welcome to Viet Nam! Are you a foreigner or a tourist, however, you should know about Viet Nam. First of all, I will told you the most beautiful place in Viet Nam.
I will give you a clue. It’s a beauty spot. And it’s in Ha Noi-the capital of Viet Nam. And It is considered the heart of Ha Noi.
Can you guess that?
Of course, yeah, it’s Hoan Kiem Lake.
And now this is the picture of Hoan Kiem Lake
Very
coolllll!
I think It’s very beautiful
Hoan Kiem Lake, or Lake of the Returned Sword, is the most important lake in Hanoi, Vietnam. Located right at the centre of the city park, Ho Hoan Kiem, or simply Hoan Kiem, is associated with the legend of the restored sword, a "Vietnamese version" of Excalibur.
Fitness-conscious Hanoi folks flood the banks of Ho Hoan Kiem every morning to perform their daily exercises.
According to the legend, emperor Le Loi handed a magic sword called Heaven`s Will which brought him victory in his revolt against the Chinese Ming Dynasty back to the Golden Turtle God (Kim Qui) in the lake and hence gave it its present name (the lake was formerly known as "Luc Thuy" meaning "Green Water"). The Tortoise Tower (Thap Rua) standing on a small island near the center of lake is linked to the legend.
Now, we will go through thr The Huc Bridge, which is also in Hoan Kiem Lake
Large soft-shell turtles, either of the species Rafetus swinhoei or a separate species named Rafetus leloii in honor of the emperor, have been sighted in the lake. The species is critically endangered and the number of individuals in the lake is unclear.
Near the northern shore of the lake lies Jade Island on which the Ngoc Son Temple (Jade Mountain Temple) stands. The temple was erected in the 18th century. It honors the 13-century military leader Tran Hung Dao who distinguished himself in the fight against the Yuan Dynasty, Van Xuong, a scholar, and Nguyen Van Sieu, a Confucian master and famous writer in charge of repairs made to the temple in 1864. Jade Island is connected to the shore by the wooden red-painted Huc Bridge (The Huc, meaning Morning Sunlight Bridge).
And now you can see it in the right side
Very colorful.
Right?
And now, it’s Ngoc Son Temple, the sacred temple in Hoan Kiem Lake
Let’see
Hoan Kiem Lake`s reflecting waters are punctuated by the Tortoise Pagoda (Thap Rua) at the south end and Ngoc Son Temple at Hoan Kiem Lake`s north end.
Ngoc Son Temple may be reached by crossing The Huc (Morning Sunlight) Bridge, a graceful, red-painted wooden bridge. Ngoc Son is not just a museum, it`s an active place of worship, where monks and devotees perform their religious duties. The smell of burning joss sticks pervades the air, which as a result feels thick and heavy.
The temple complex contains a number of interesting structures. The Pen Tower on the island`s hill is a relatively recent addition; the Moonlight Tower (Dac Nguyet Lau) serves as a gateway into the temple from the bridge; and two walls display the names of students who passed the national examinations hundreds of years ago.
Ngoc Son Temple has stood on this island since the 14th century at least. The temple honors the war hero Tran Hung Dao, who thrice repelled invading Mongol hordes from China in the 12th century. The scholars Van Xuong and Nguyen Van Sieu also have altars dedicated to their memory.
Something, more:
The temple`s main building houses altars, shops, and a large stuffed tortoise. Hoan Kiem Lake`s turtles have largely passed into legend, due to pollution and the paving-over of the turtles` egg-laying grounds on the lakeshore. The turtles do crop up every once in a while - the turtle in Ngoc Son Temple was discovered in 1967, a specimen that weighed more than 400 pounds and spanned six feet in length. Another turtle was sighted in 1998. Today, the number of surviving turtles in Hoan Kiem Lake remains unknown.
The pavilion in front of the temple overlooks the lake. A bronze brazier stands in front of the temple façade, holding joss sticks left by devotees. The pavilion is usually swarming with worshipers and tourists enjoying the view.
News Brief:
Now, to enter Ngoc Son Temple, an entrance fee must be paid just before crossing the bridge - VND 3,000 Dong ($0.15), available at a booth to the left of the bridge entrance. The temple is open daily, from 8:00am to 5:00pm.
Oh, Do you know about this?
YEAH!
That is right
And It’s a picture of Ngoc Son Temple:
Now we are going to see the “symbol” of our confucianism. And this is Tower Pen (thap But)
In Tu Duc first eighteen years (1865), Nguyen Van Sieu built on Mountain Ngoc Boi, he built a stone tower, brush tops the summit tower, the tower itself had carved three words "Ta Thanh Thien" (mean: write on blue sky), today commonly called the Tower Pen. Ok. Now. I will tell you about the Turtle Tower. It was erected on the Turtle island. It was used to be a fishing site under king Le Thanh Tong.
After the French defeated the Hanoi Citadel, most of the population around the lake fled away. Vietnamese officials also left their offices. There stayed only Nguyen Ngoc Kim, who was the mediator between the french troops and the Vietnamese.
In this picture, you will see the Ha Noi Post Office on the left side. It is very ancient. And the big clock on the tower is still working now. This post office was considered one of Hoan Kiem Lake in a long time.
