I/ Use present or past partiples to combine each pair of sentences:
Do you know the woman ? She is talking to Tom.
Most of the goods are exported. They are made in this factory.
She gave me some wine. It was made from grapes.
The man is sitting next to me. He is my father’d friend.
The teacher is wearing a blue jacket. He teaches us Maths.
The boy was bitten by a dog. The boy is smart.
The garden is full of flowers. It is watered every morning.
The book is about Geography. It is lying on the bookself.
The cat is sitting on the table. It is wild.
The vase was my favourite one. It was broken yesterday.
II.Rewrite the following sentences using “mind”
Can you take me a photograph. -> do you mind
Could you lend me some money. -> Would you mind
May I ask you a question? -> Do you
Could I turn the air conditioner off ? -> would
Could I smoke ?-> Do
III. Change the following sentences into reported speech. (yes- no questions)
“Are you going to visit your aunt tomorrow, Hoa?” asked Tom.
He asked me: “Is this your father’s car?”
Tom asked Helen: “Do you like my new bike?”
Her father asked her: “Will you stay home tonight?”
The teacher asked Nam: “Do you have to do the housework?”
“Are you a student?” the man asked me.
He asked his father: “Are you watching TV now?”
“Does your father drive to work, Lan?” asked Nam.
He asked his sister: “Do you study math?”
“Will you return home nex week?” I asked my father.
IV.Change the following sentences into reported speech.
Lan said : “ I am going to travel to London next month.”
“ I will apply for my visa tomorrow,” John said.
“You must fill in the form,” the receptionist said to me.
The teacher told her students: “ You can bring something to eat when you go on a picnic.”
“I want you to leave me alone now,” my father told me.
Mary said: “I don’t like your new hairstyle, Peter.”
“My brother won’t come to my party because he has to attend a meeting.” Lan said.
“I don’t have much time to enjoy myself,” her father said.
“I must finish my report, so I have to get back to work now,” Rita said.
Dick said: “ I am your marketing manager.”
V.Change the following sentences into direct speech.
He said that he would help me with some money.
My mother told me she didn’t know where my books were.
He said to her that he couldn’t buy her a new dress.
John said that he liked Mary’s garden a lot.
The man said to his son he he was going to stay at home the following Sunday.
