UNIT 2 MAKING ARRANGEMENTS ( ps.18,19)
Lesson 1: Getting started & listen and read
I Aims:
-By the end of the lesson, Ss will be able to read a conversation on the phone, use the telephone to make and confirm arrangments.
-To develop reading and listening skills.
-To educate Ss to like learning English.
II. Language content:
-To talk about intention with be going to.
- Vocabulary: a fax machine, a mobile phone, a telephone directory…
III. Teaching method:
-Pairs work, groups work, intensive listening and extensive reading.
IV. Teaching aids:
- Lesson plan E.8, textbook, pictures, sub.board, tape and cassette...
V.Procedure:
Teacher’s activities
1. Getting started.(7’)

T hangs the pictures on the board and asks Ss to look at them.
T asks Ss to match each object with its name.






T comments and corrects the mistakes to Ss.

2. Listen and read.(33’)
2.1 Pre- reading

T introduces the main content of the dialogue to Ss.

T supplies vocabulary on the board to Ss



T lets Ss practice reading vocab in groups ,
inđiviually.

2.2. While-reading.
T plays the cassette twice.
T asks Ss to listen to the tape carefully.


T lets Ss read the dialogue silently.

T asks Ss to work in pairs to do the exercise 2 on page 19.








T comments and corrects the mistakes to Ss.


2.3 Post- reading
T asks Ss to practice reading the dialogue aloud in front of class.

3. Consolidation and homework (5’)
T asks Ss to reread the dialogue at home
T asks Ss to prepare new lesson: Lesson 2.
Speak & listen and do the exercises in workbook

Ss: Look at the pictures

- To work in groups to match each object with its name.
Picture a. an answering machine.
b. a mobile phone
c. a fax machine
d. a telephone directory
e. a public telephone
f. an address book




Ss: Listen to T’s introduction.


-Copy down vocab.

+ (to) make the phone
+ (to) arrange / arrangement (n)

* Rub out and remember.

Ss: Listen to the tape carefully.

Read the dialogue silently
Work in pairs to do the exercise 2 on page 19.

1. Practice the dialogue with a partner.
2. Read the dialogue again. Decide who did and said each of the following things.
Who:
Nga made the call.
Nga introduced herself.
Nga invited the other to the movies.
Nga arranged the meeting place.
Hoa arranged the time.
Nga agrred the time.

Ss : Read the dialogue aloud in front of class.









-Do as T’s requests.

-Expressions about arrangements.

-Pairs work, groups work, intensive listening and extensive reading.
