UNIT 13: ACTIVITIES AND THE SEASONS.
Lesson 1 : A- The weather and seasons.
(A1- 2)
I/ Aims and objectives:
* Language content :
- To introduce the sts some new words relating to the weather and seasons.
- To enable them to use the present simple tense with “tobe”.
*Language function :
- To help the sts to talk about the seasons and the weather .
*Educational aim :
- To educate in the sts love for natural beauty.
1. Language:
a. Vocabulary: -seasons, weather, spring, summer, fall, winter, warm, cool.
b. Structures: - What’s the weather like in the summer?
It’s hot.
2. Skills: - Integrated skills
3. Educational factor:
- Loving the natural beauty in order to live better.
II/ Teacher and students` preparation:
1. Method : - Communicative approach.
2. Techniques: - Explanation, Repetition, using picture, game, pair work, groupwork.
3. Materials needed: -Picture, cassette player, text book.
4. Students` preparation: - Prepare the lesson well before coming to class.
5. Previous exercises:
III/ Procedure in class:
1/ Stabilization ( 2ms):
a. Warm up: - Greets the students.
b. Checking absence: - Asks the monitor about the absence
2/ Checking up the previous knowledge : (5 ms )
*Questions: What do you do in freetimes?
How often do you flying a kite?
Who do you go with?
*Answers: Do freely.
3/ Presentation of the new materials:

I/ Lead - in :
- Calls two students to go to the board and gives each student a paper sheet written down.
1. I’m cold.
2. I’m hot.
- Asks each of them to express the sentence in the paper sheet.
- Demands sts in class to guess what sentence is in the paper sheet.
- Introduces the new lesson :” The weather and seasons”.
II/ Pre- Practice:
- Shows 4 pictures in the part A1.
- Asks sts to remark the weather of seasons and explains the meanings of new words:
+ hot (adj) : ( explanation)
+ cold (adj) : ( explanation)
+ Warm (adj) : ( explanation)
+ cool (adj) : ( explanation)
- Points at 4 pictures on the board and says: “There are four seasons in Vietnam.”
- Asks sts to guess the meanings of “seasons”.
- Writes the word “seasons” on the board and asks sts to repeat.

- Asks :” How many seasons are there in Vietnam? What are they?”
- Explains the names of 4 seasons:

- Asks sts to read the words again.
- Asks them to listen the part A1 and repeat.
- Has them do the following exercise: Matching.

III/ Controlled- Practice :
- Explains the questions:
What’s the weather like in the spring?
It’s warm..
- Notices:
It is warm = The weather is warm.
- Has sts work in pairs and asks about the weather in seasons.
- Calls some pairs to practice in front of the class.
IV/ Free- practice:
- Lets sts play the game “Orange
