Lesson 1 GETTING STARTED AND LISTEN&READ

I. AIMS AND OBJECTIVES:
To introduce some words relating to inventions and manufacturing process of chocolate.
To revise the passive forms.
By the end of the lesson Ss will be able to listen and read a dialogue involving the topic above
To educate Ss to aware of the importance of inventions.
II. LANGUAGE:
-Vocabulary: papyrus, pulp, invent, manufacture, process, remove, crush, grind, mold, conveyor-belt..
- Structures: The passive forms.
III. SKILLS: L-S-R-W
IV. METHOD: Communicate approach.
V. TECHNIQUES: Repetition, completion, pair work, games, matching.
VI. TEACHING AIDS NEEDED: Textbook, sub-board.

I. WARM UP:(8’)
Ask Ss some questions:
What is the table made of?
What is the paper made from?
Ask Ss to look at the pictures and answer the question.
What can you see in the picture a)…..
Ask Ss to make matching. ( have Ss work in pairs)
Call some Ss to answer their matching.
Make corrections. ( A-b; B-c; C-e; D-a; E-d)
Introduce the topic of the dialogue: Today we will study a conversation about visiting a chocolate factory.
II. PRE- PRACTICE: (12’)
Play the tape (once)
Teach new words.
Invent(v)/ Exp/ invention
Manufacture(v)/ syn/make
Process(n)/ Exp
Remove(v) gesture
Crush( v) /gesture

III. CONTROLLED-PRACTICE (20’)
Play the tape- Ss repeat.
Have SS work in group of four.
Call Ss to read aloud in roles.
Ask Ss to do Ex-2 ( Work in pairs)
Call Ss to say their answers.
Make correction.

IV: CONSOLIDATION:(3’)
Revise Ss what they have practiced.
Call Ss to reread the dialogue.
V. HOMEWORK:(5’)
Ask Ss to read the dialogue
Redo all the exercises.

Prepare for next lesson.
