Period 20: UNIT 4: BIG OR SMALL?
LESSON 1: A : WHERE IS YOUR SCHOOL?(A1,2)
I. Aims:To help ss:
- Read about a description of a school.
- Ask and answer about position and feature of one thing.
- Use possessive form of noun.
II. Objectives:
- By the end of the lesson, ss will be able to understand the reading and practise asking and answering about position of one thing and use possessive form of noun.
III.Ways of working:
- T - WC, team work, pair work, individual work.
IV. Materials:
- Text book, pictures in the text book P.44, tape.
V. Anticipated problems: The lesson may take time.
VI. Teaching steps:
1. Warm up (5 minutes): - Greet and check the ss’attendance.
- Chatting:
Ask Ss to look at the two pictures in TB.P-P44 and remark: ( Which school is smaller/ bigger? Which school is in the country/ city?)
- T. elicits the lesson: + How to describe the feature of one thing.
+ How to ask and answer about position of one thing.
+ How to use possessive form.
2. New lesson:

*Realia drill. (Teacher collects ss’real objects and asks Ss to say)
Ex: That`s Chi’s pen.
That`s Hoa’s ruler.
III. Read:
1. Checking prediction:
- Phong’s school is in the country.
- It is small.
2. Model sentences:
Ex1:
S1: Where is Phong’s school ?
S2: It`s in the country.
S1: Is Phong’s school small?
S2: Yes, it is.
S1: Is Thu’s school small?
S2: No, it isn’t.
* Form: Where is......?

- It`s Lan`s pen
- It`s Hoa`s book.
* Note: Possessive Form:
- Dạng sở hữu được dùng để chỉ sự liên hệ, cái gì đó thuộc về ai hoặc ai có cái gì.
- Cấu trúc: DT số ít + `s

*Writing:
Ask Ss to write a paragraph about their school by answering the questions:
- Where is your school? In the city or in the country?
- Is it big or small?
- How many teachers and students are there in your school?
IV. Practice:
1. Answer the questions: (A2.P.44)
*Key:
a. Yes, it is.
b. No, it isn’t.
c. It’s in the country.
d. No, it isn’t. It’s in the city.
2. Writing
* Suggested writing:
My school is Thanh Mai secondary school. It is big. It isn`t in the city. It is in the country.My school has about 400 students. There are nearly 50 teachers in my school. I like my school very much.
3. Summary: ( 1 minute)
- Repeat the lesson.
+ Vocabulary
+ Structures.
4. Home work: (1 minute)
- Learn by heart the new words and model sentences.
- Complete the writing about your school into your notebook.
