Lesson 1. Section A ( A1 - A3 )
I. objectiveS.
By the end of the lesson, ss will be able to ask where someone is from.
Develop listening, speaking, reading and writing skills for students.
Educating the students` love for people and countries.
II. Language content
Vocabulary: Name of countries. (America, Vietnam, England, Singapore, ...); Wh- question: where; Preposition: from
Phonics : wh, fr, e .
Grammar : Hello, hi. The structure "Where are you from? - I am from + N(place).
III. Teaching method.
Individual work, teacher-whole class, pairs work.
IV. Teaching aids.
Tape, stereo, text book, puppets: Mai, Nam, Linda, Peter, LiLi, Alan.
V. Procedure.
Teacher`s activities
1.Warm up.(3ms)
* Chatting.
- Asks ss some questions in Vietnames.
+ What is your name ?
+ How old are you ?
+ Where are you from ?
+ Where is Nam / LiLi / Linda / Mai / from ?
- T introduces the new lesson.
2. Presentation. (12ms)
a. Pre-teach.
- T elicits vocabulary from students.
America (n): (example)
England (n): (example)
Singapore (n): (map)
From (prep): (translation)
- Check stress .
- Check vocabulary (R O R).
b. Presentation text.
- Let ss look at the picture part A1 on page 10 to describe it.
- Give feed back and correct mistakes. (Peter and Alan are in the school yard. Peter asks Alan where he is from.)
- Asks ss to look at the book and listen to the tape two times.
- Asks ss to listen and repeat after the tape.
- Asks some ss to practice the dialouge.
- Listen and correct mistakes.
c. Model sentences.
S1: Where are you from ?
S2: I am from England.
- Check meaning, form, use, and pronunciation.
3. Practice. (14ms)
* Picture cue drill.
- T uses puppets: LiLi, Linda, Alan, Peter, Nam, Mai for ss to practice.
Ex. S1: Where are you from, Peter ?
S2: I am from America.
- Listen and correct mistakes for students.
4. Production. (8ms)
* Role play.(A3)
- Asks students to ask and answer about where their friend is from.
- Listen and correct mistakes.
5. Homework. (3ms)
- Learn by heart vocabulary and the structure.
- Revision the lesson.
- Do exercises 1, 2 on pages 6, 7.
- Prepare Unit 1. (A4 - 7)
