Spaghetti is one of many different types of pasta. It is the most famous Italian food, but the Italians didn’t invent it. They say that Marco Polo brought it from China hundreds of years ago, in 1295.
Marco Polo was born in Venice in 1254. His father is Nicolo, and his uncle, Maffeo, first went to China from 1260 to 1269. They bought things there and sold them in Italy. In 1271, they went back to China and took Marco with them. They visited many exciting places.
They all finally returned to Vience twenty-four years later. Marco Polo wrote a book about his travels in 1298.
