Since ancient times, numerous “ seven wonders” lists have been created. The content of these lists tends to vary, and none is definitive. The seven wonders that are most widely agreed upon as being in the original list are the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World, which was compiled by ancient Greek historians and is thus confined to the most magnificent structures known to the ancient Greek world. They included the Great Pyramid of Giza, Hanging Gardens of Babylon, Statue of Zeus at Olympia, Temple of Artemis at Ephesus, Mausoleum of Maussollos at Halicarnassus, Colossus of Rhodes and Lighthouse of Alexandria. Of all the Ancient Wonders, the pyramids alone survive.
New Seven Wonder of the World is a project that attempts to recive the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World concept with a list of modern wonders. A popularity poll was organized by the private, non-profit New Open World Corporation(NOWC), with winners announced on July 7, 2007 in Lisbon, Portugal.
