UNIT 1: MY FRIENDS
Lesson 1: Getting started + Listen and read
A. Aims:
- After the lesson the Ss will be able to introduce themselves and the others .
B. Language contents:
1. Vocabs: - next – door neighbor (n), receive (v), smile (n)
2. Grammar: She is beautiful. Here is her photograph.
C. Teaching aids :
- Computer.
D. Teaching methods:
- Grammar translation.
E. Procedures :
I. Class organization :
- Greet Ss in class!
- Number the Ss in class: 8A1:…/24, 8A2:…../28; 8A3:……/20
II. Check old lesson:
- Correct the home work then give marks.
III. New lesson:
1. Warm up:
- What do you do in your free time?
- What are your favorite activities?
2. Presentation:
a. present the dialogue:
- Teacher reads the dialogue twice.
- Have Ss read after T.
- Have Ss practice the dialogue in pairs.
b. present new words:
- Give some new words in the dialogue,explain their meaning
- Have Ss read new words in chorus and individuals
- Use Rub out and remember to check.
c. Do exercise related the dialogue:
- Ex 2(in the book)
- Have Ss work in groups.
- Have groups prepear the answers in 5 minutes.
- Ss give their answers.
- T corrects and gives key.
d. Present grammar:
- Ask the Ss to describe their friends ( Free).
Ex: She is tall. She is beautiful.
Ex: He is short. He is my next door neighbor
- Introduce the way of introducing people.
3. Practice:
- Ask the Ss to practice the dialogue with a partner.
- Call some pairs read the dialogue in front of the class
4. Free practice:
- Ask the Ss to introduce their friend/ classmates.
- Feed back.
5.Consolidation:
- Show out poster: He is short. He lives in Muong Luan.
- She is my friend. She has a round face.
6. Homework:
- Ask and guide the Ss how to do the excercises:1,2 at page 5,6.( workbook)
- Prepare the next lesson.

1. Vocab: straight ( adj), curly (adj), bald( adj), blond( adj), fair (adj)
2.Grammar: This person is short and thin. She has long blond hair.
C. Teaching aids :
- Computer.
D. Teaching methods :
- Communicative
E. Procedures :
I. Class organization :
- Greet Ss in class.
- Number the Ss in class: 8A1:…../24, 8A2:…../28, 8A3:……/20
II. Check old lesson:
- Correct the home work then give marks.
III. New lesson:
1. Warm up:
- Play “ Find some one who ”.
2. Before- Speaking:
- Picture drill.
- Give out the new words.
- Have Ss practice reading. – Use “ Matching ” to check.
- Set out the way of describing people.
Ex: This person is short and thin. He has short dark hair.
Tall fat She long blond hair……..
- Have Ss read the dialogue. ( take role)
3. While – speaking:
- Pictures drill
- Ask the Ss to take turn to make similar dialogue.
- Feed back.
- Show out poster1:a/ Nhung : tall, beautiful, straight hair.
b/ Hoa: short and thin, curly hair.
- Get Ss to describe.
- Feed back.
4. After – Speaking:
- Show out pictures: Nguyet, Nhung, Trang, Tung and Quyet.
- Ask the Ss to play: “ Find some one who ”
5. Consolidation:
- Reshow what they have studied.
6. Homework:
- Ask and guide the Ss how to :
+ do the exercises: 3 at page 6 .( workbook)
+ prepare the next lesson.
