Andy Lipkis was 15 years old when he went camping in the mountains near Los Angeles, California. He soon discovered that many of trees there had been damaged or killed by pollution from the city. Although he was still a teenager, he wanted to do something to change the situation. He got all the campers together and suggested planting trees to replace those that had died.
