A.MODAL VERBS
1.How many modals are there?

Should + V-without “to” => should not (shouldn’t)
May may not
Can can not = can’t
Could could not = couldn’t
Ask students to talk about their usage. Then make some sentences
2. Adverbs of manner
Give an example. I can cook very well
explain: we use the adverbs of manner after the verbs to modify them
Form: Adj + ly → Adv
Good → well
Fast → fast
Hard → hard
Love → lovely
exercise: Choose the right word in brackets to complete each sentence.
I tried on the shoes and they fitted me … ( perfect/perfectly)
He had an accident because he was driving too… (fast/fastly)
Do you usually feel … before examinations? (nervous/nervously)
Tom drove … along the narrow road (careful/carefully)
He look at me … when I interrupted him (angry/angrily)
+ Correct and give key their answer

B.USED TO
Ask students to retell the form and use " used to"
* form: (+) S + used to + V- infinitive
(-) S + didn`t use to + V- infinitive
(?) Did + S + use to + V- infinitive?
Used to is express an action which used to happen in the past but doesn`t happen now.
Give examples: (+) I used to eat a lot of candy
(-) I didn`t use to play games
(?) Did you use to a lot of candy?
Let students make some sentences with "used to"
Give feedback → correct mistakes

1. Commands, requests and advice in reported speech
* Commands requests in reported speech.
S + asked/ told + O + to + V- infinitive
Ex: + Mirs Jackson said " can you give Tim this dictionary?"
→ Mirs Jackson asked me to give you this dictionary.
+ Ha said "Please help me this exercise?"
→ Ha told me to help her this exercise.
* Advice in reporter speech "should"
Mr Dung said "Hai should work harder on his English"
→ Hai’s mother reported it to Hai
Mr Dung said you should work harder on you English.
Exercise: Put the following commands and requests into reported speech
Tam said to Tan “Can you bring my hat, please?”
The teacher said “Keep silent, please?”
Her father said “Don’t make so much noise”
The teacher said “You should go to school on time”
The doctor said “you should drink these medicines twice a day”
Ask students to do individual → give their answer.
Tam asked/told Tan to bring his hat
The teacher asked/told students to keep silent
Her father asked/told her not to make so much noise
The teach said he should go to school on time
The doctor said she should drink these medicines twice a day
