7. How to write a speech
Topic1: Prepare for a speech on how to save water at home.
Example:
Good morning, everyone. I am Lan and today I am going to give you some useful information about how to save water at home.
We all know that by saving water at home, you can save your own money. In addition, water conservation helps prevent water pollution in nearby lakes, rivers and local watersheds. The smaller the amount of water flowing through these systems, the lower the likelihood of pollution.
Water is an integral part of life; so we can not stop using it but just reduce the amount of water everyday. You can reduce a considerable amount of water just by doing the following things:
- Checking faucets and pipes for leaks.
- Not using the toilet as an ashtray or wastebasket.
- Taking shorter showers.
- Using your dishwasher and clothes washer for only full loads.
- When washing dishes by hand, not leaving the water running for rinsing.
These simple rules may help you save water in your own house, which contributes to protect the environment.
Topic 2: Prepare for a speech on how to save energy at home.
Example:
Good afternoon, my friends, Today I`m going to tell you how to save energy at home, especially in our kitchen. As we know, in our modern life, the kitchen is a place where we use much of the energy such as electricity, gas, and water. To reduce this amount of this energy, we should: - turn off the lights, fans and faucets when not necessary. - get all the food ready before turning on the stoves. - keep refrigerator door closed. - check the water pipes regularly. If you follow these simple rules, not only will you save money, but natural resources as well.
8. Task1: Write a letter to a friend to share your idea about how to celebrate Mother`s Day and Father`s Day in our country and it is necessary or it isn`t necessay.
Dear Tom, I`m writing to you to tell my idea about an important celebration. I think it is necessary to celebrate Mother`s Day and Father`s Day in our country. As we know every one of us in this world has parents. So, the fact that there is a day to celebrate for them is reasonable. Moreover, it`s occasion children can show their love and gratitude to their parents. What`s more it`s children`s duty in the view of moral tradition of the nation. The time to celebrate those days is not near other public holidays, I guess. Mother`s Day should be celebrated in early spring and Father`s Day in early fall. Why do we celebrate those celebrations in these times of the year? I think it`s the most suitable time because the weather is usually fine. Therefore the children who live apart can return home easily. On those days, all the children should return to their parents` house. It`s advisable that they should have a family party. And I think it`s not important that we should have special or expensive food. And it`s not necessary to give our parents expensive gifts because our parents understand the meaning of our deeds. It`s the love and the spirit that count, not the gifts or other material things. Mother and Father obviously enjoy their children and grandchildren`s gathering. In a word, I think we should have Mother`s Day and Father`s Day.
Task2: Write a letter to a friend to share your idea about the topic "Top sport people today earn too much money."

Top sports people today earn huge amounts of money and in the future they’ll probably earn much more. I don’t think there’s anything wrong with this at all.
Sport today is a big business. As a result, a lot of business people make a lot of money from it. In my opinion, top sports people should be free to make a lot of money from sport as well. If they’re the best in their sport, they should therefore be paid a lot. Secondly, they can only play their sport for a short time. For this reason they should be able to earn as much as possible while they can, in order to carry on living comfortably after they stop. Top sports people can earn a lot from advertising and sponsorship too.
Consequently, I believe that it’s practically impossible to limit the money they receive. Also, as far as I’m concerned, they are entertainers. Top entertainers have always been paid extremely well, so it seems to me that top sports people should be paid well too, so as to reward them for the pleasure they give us.
In conclusion, I don’t think that top sports people earn too much money because they deserve it. It is also clear that we couldn’t stop them anyway.
