Welcome The Teachers to The Training Class!
Which skill ?
WRITING SKILL
Aim: To share our problems to raise effect in the writing skill lesson
Question for Sharing
Do you enjoy teaching writing? Why? Why not?
Problems in getting learners to write in the classroom
Not to understand things what they will write about;
Nothing to write;
(vocabulary, idea, grammar)
Not enough time;
.Work in groups: Low or uneven participation
What does a teacher do to improve the learners’ problems ?
What are the typical mistakes
a teacher might get ?
- Not to get students to think about the topic or situation; to collect all their idea, language focus (vocabulary, grammar) before writing about it (not perfectly).
- Not to set up a pre task;
- Not to give clear instructions, not check;
- Not to give suitable framework/ outline;
- Give tasks without helpful cues;
- Not to do a lot of assisting weaker students.
Things that a teacher does to improve the learners’ problems
To set up a pre – task (doesn’t talk about what the students must do, instead shows them what/ how to do by giving a demonstration with suitable framework/ outline/ helpful cues);
To give clear instructions (KISS: keep it short and simple) and check them;
To care all students, especially, do a lot of assisting weaker students; to hold classroom in effective working.
To teach Ss: When they do not understand something, they should ask their teacher, they shouldn’t stay silent.
