Unit 1: A DAY IN THE LIFE OF
Period 3: READING
Targets: SS will be able to:
Read and guess the meaning of new words from the context.
Read and write down the information in the text
Read and answer the questions about the text.

Warm-up: 5 min
Show some pictures of daily activities.
Ask students what they do in the morning/ afternoon and evening
Discuss in group of 4 and answer individually.
Suggested answers:
Eat breakfast
Eat lunch
Go to the supermaket.
Clean the house
In the morning, I get up. Then, I brush my teeth and wah my face. I have breakfast with my mom and go to school at 6.45.
In the afternoon, I have a nap and do my homework. I go to the beach with my friends to relax.
In the evening, I study and watch TV. I go to bed at 10 o’clock.
New vocabulary: 15 min
Ex: Mr. Tan and Mr. Quang are farmers. They work together in the fields. They are fellow peasants.
Fellow peasant : bạn nông dân
Ex: My computer has some problems. I have it repaired.
Repair : sửa
Ex: T: What are the farmers doing?
S: They are transplanting rice.

Ex: Mr. Hoang lives next to my house. He is my neighbor. We live in the same neighborhood.

Task 1: Choose the option A, B or C that best suits the meaning of the italicized words:
T reads aloud these sentences and asks Ss the meaning of these words.
T calls open pairs and close pairs to answer these questions.
T writes the key on the board.
Ss work in pairs to discuss the task.
They raise their hands to give the answers.

Task 2: Answer the following questions (Pair work)
