Dear An,
I’m glad to receive your letter which you tell me about your holiday in New York City in. I’m writing to you for the Sahara Desert, a place that you asked me about last week.
The Sahara Desert is the largest desert in the world. It is located in northern Africa, it extends from the Atlantic Ocean easterward past the Red Sea to Iraq. It lies mostly in Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia, Libya, Egypt, Mauritania, Mali, Niger and Sudan.
The desert has a total area of more than 9,065,000 square km with 1,610 km wide and about 5,150 km long from the east to the west.
The most special natural features are arid land and dry climate so it is totally unlikely to find moisture in the Sahara Desert. It’s very hot in summer and very cold in winter. If you are in the desert, you can see few oases existing there and all that spreads in front of you is sandy land and large dunes of sand. In addition, Its tableland has an average elevation from 400 to 500 m.
On the other hand, there are few forms of animals and vegetable life. The main trees you can find are cactus, the date palm, and a form of acacia. Besides, the main animals you are likely to see are gazelle, antelope, fox, jackal, camel.
I believe that there are many mysteries that we haven’t known so please discuss with me on your next letter.
Write me soon
Love,
Thien Anh
