I. Aims:
By the end of the lesson, Ss will be able to:
-use the past simple tense of to be.
-practise saying dates.
-talk about the weather.

-Ask Ss to look at the questions and read the text.
-Encourage Ss to use their dictionaries to check words.
-Ask: When was this?
-Suggest Ss to decide if the sentences are true or false.
-Check the answers with the text.
-Ask Ss to look again the text and complete the gapped sentences.
-Invite Ss to write them on the board.
-Write the table on the board for Ss to complete.
-Write the sentences on the board for Ss to complete.
-Ask Ss to supply the negative form.
-Ask: How do we make Qs with was or were?
-Ask Ss to change the conversation into the simple past tense.
-Divide Ss into groups . Each group complete one of the conversations.
-Play the tape for Ss to listen and do the task.
-Ask: Where was Peter yesterday?
-Require Ss to ask and answer.
Divide the class into pairs to ask and answer about where they were at the certain time.
-Move around the class and give help if necessary.
-Ask Ss to look at the months of a year.
-Play the tape for Ss to listen and repeat.
-Play the tape for Ss to listen and write down the dates.
-Write the prepositions: in , on , at on the board.
-Remind Ss of the use of the prepositions.
-Divide Ss into pairs to write down and talk about dates that are important to them.
-Ask Ss to look at the notice board.
-Ask: Whose notice board is it?
-Require ss to look at it again and answer the questions.
-Check the answers.
- Ask ss to work in pairs to describe David & Laura.
-Ask ss to look at the pictures.
-Ask: What’s happening?
-Invite Ss to offer suggestions for the missing words.
-Play the tape for Ss to listen and check.
-Have Ss to look at the expressions and try to match the two halves.
-Play the tape for Ss to note the questions Ben asks.
-Ask: What’s the weather like today? What was the weather like yesterday?
-Divide the class into pairs to talk about the weather.
*Consolidations:
-Ask Ss to repeat all the grammars -Give exercises in workbook.
-Read the text and give answers:
1. It’s from a teenage thriller/ horror book.
2. Stone is a winner/ an author.
3. They’re newspapers.
-Give answer:
On Friday night.
Read and decide.
-Check the answers.
-Complete the gapped sentences.
-Write on:
+Mitch was in bed .
+He wasn’t asleep.

+They were away.
-Complete the table.
-Complete the sentences.
