A. The aims and requests:
- To practice using Relative pronouns, and adverbial clause of concession
- By the end of the lesson, ss will be able to use relative pronouns, relative clauses with “who,which” and the adverbs clause of concession to join sentences and describe people using “who”. .
- Develop the 4 students ’ skills.
C. Procedures:
I. Organization: (1’) - Greeting; check ss’ absence.
II. Checking up (5’):
-Join the sentences using “but”-slide 1
. 1. The weather was bad .We went out for a walk.
2. My father was sixty years old . He jogs every morning.
*Way of checking:writing.
*Answer key:
1. The weather was bad but we went out for a walk.
2. My father was sixty years old but he jogs every morning.
*T remarks,marks.
III. New lesson (34’):
Lead to (1’):
If I have the sentence”the weather was bad but we went out for a walk”
And I want to talk in the other way how can I say? If we want to join two sentences which have the same subject of people or things how can we do? Today I’ll help you know.

I. Adverb clause of concesssion:Slide:4
-T reminds ss of this sentence:
The weather was bad but we went out for a walk.
-T gives ss the model sentence:
1. Although the weather was bad ,we went out for a walk.
Or:
We went out for a walk although the weather was bad.
-T emphasizes :
Although = though = eventhough.
-T asks ss to give the form.
-> form:
Even though /though/although+ S+V ,main clause.
-T emphasizes the clause follows “though,although,eventhough”-called “adv clause of concession” and the use of “despite or in spite of”-but they’ll learn in the future.
- T asks ss to do ex 3 p71,72-Slide-:5
-T models the first sentence:
b- Although we don’t have Mother’s Day in Viet nam, Dad and I have special gifts and parties for my Mon every year on the 8th of March.
-T calls some ss to come to the bb and write their sentences, the rest students write in their notebook..

d- Many tourists enjoy festivals in Vietnam though tourists do not understand the Vietnamese culture very much.
e- Even though in Australia, Christmas season is in Summer, the Australians enjoy Christmas as much as people in European countries do.
f- Jim could see the main part of the show although he came to the show late due to the traffic jam.
* T guides do the exercise 4 on page 73-74(slide 6) then asks them to do at home.
II. Relative pronouns: Who/ which.
-a. Which(slide 7)
-T reminds ss of the sentence:
Model sentence:
-Tet is a festival. It occurs in late January or early February.
Tet is a festival which occurs in late January or early February.
-T gives the second example:
-He is reading a book which he bought yesterday.
+ “Which” replaces for the “thing” subject pronoun/object.
b- Who: He, she, they(slide 8):
-T use the first picture of page 71 to set the scene:
-T says:
This is my family’s photo . If I am asked “ who is your sister , how can I answer?
My sister is the girl who is wearing a pink skirt.
- T emphasizes the differences between the two “who” – a question word and a relative pronoun.
+ “Who” replaces for the people subject pronoun.
*Note: The relative clause or the adj clause is the same.
