What do young people often do in the foundation day of HCM YU?

You are going to read a note and a proposal about an event to celebrate the foundation day of HCM YU.

II. Pre-writing
1. Reading (Pairwork): (7 minutes)Ask sts to read the text on page 100 and answer the following questions:
1.     What is the event?
2.     What is it for?
3.     When and where is it held?
4.     Who are the participants? How many?
5.     What needs to be prepared? Who is in charge?
6.     What do they plan for March 25?
7.     What do they plan for March 26?
8.     How much money do they need in total?
9.     Who is it prepared by ?
10.   Who is it approved by?

2. Pre teach vocab:(5 minutes)
Using a picture of a tent to teach new words (flysheet: to giay roi,bat, tent poles:cai coc leu , tent pegs: coc leu, ….)
soloist = one singer;
duettist = two singers;

- A, B,C and D / charge / balloons, ribbons
- E, F / take care/ speaker, micro and keyboard
- G and H/ responsible / question tickets, flowers, food and drinks
- Decoration / do / 3 pm on 19 November
- Contest/ start/ singing and dancing/ opening/ and end/ prize giving
- Total cost/ 500.000 VND / include/ 200.000/ food and drinks/ and 300.000 VND for flowers, prizes

- Preparations for the contest should be made as follows
- A, B,C and D will be in charge of balloons and ribbons
- E, F will take care of loud speaker, micro and keyboard
- G and H will be responsible for question tickets, flowers, food and drinks
- The decoration will be done by 3 pm on 19 November
- The contest will start with singing and dancing, then opening speech and will end with prize giving
- The total cost for the contest is 500.000 VND including 200.000 for food and drinks and 300.000 for flowers, prizes

2- Group free writing (homework) (2’)
- Ask students to work in groups to write a proposal asking to organise an English contest on Vietnamese Teachers’ Day.
Remind that you can use the notes you have made, the guided sentence exercise and the proposal on page 101
