UNIT 11- travelling in the future
Week: 32 PERIOD: 86- GETTING STARTED
I. Objectives.
- By the end of this lesson, students will be able to :
+/ Pronunciation: Rising and falling intonation for Yes-No and Wh-questions.
+/ Use lexical items related to future means of transport and movement.
+/ Understand the difference between facts and opinions.
+/ Use will for future prediction.
+/ Newwords: driverless, exist, system, avoid, jet pack, teleporter, reappear, imaginative, pilotless, solar-power .
+/ skills: Reading and speaking.
II. Preparation.
- Teacher: Auxiliary boards.
- Students: Prepare the new words , practice pronouncing these words.
III. Procedure.

Contents

1. Warm up. To introduce the new lesson.
 - Ask Ss to brainstorm on the board one or two means of transport that are now commonly used in Viet Nam.
- T asks some questions:
What can you see in the picture?
What are Veronica, Mai, and Phuc doing? What makes you think so?
What topic are they talking about?
2. Presentation.
- Ask Ss to look at the dialogue between Mai, Veronica and Phuc, listen to the tape and underlined the newwords and know how to pronounce.
- One S goes to the board and writes the newwords.
3 . Practice.
- Ask Ss to practice the newwords, and pay attention to the pronunciation.
- T shows each word and Ss read inchorus first, then call some Ss read the words again.
- Ss read the conversation independently and answer the questions in pairs.
- Have Ss compare their answers in groups and then discuss as a class. T writes the correct answers on the board if necessary.

- T explains how to do this exercise .
- Have Ss write a fact and an opinion
about flying cars on board.
- T checks with the whole class.
4. Production.
- Ss work individually to come up with the means of transport mentioned in the conversation.
- T gives the example.
- Ask Ss to work in groups to make a list of the combined words.

- Ask Ss to work in pairs to practise as example.
5. Home work.
- Learn by heart the newwords.
- Prepare the new lesson: A closer look

1. If there are too many flying cars, there will be traffic jams in the sky. Some means of transport will not be convenient in bad weather. Future means of transport may use a lot of fuel which will make pollution worse.
