I. Vocabulary:

II Speak :
* Expressions to help you to persuade someone to do something.
Example:
Lan:
Hoa:
I think it would be better if we use banana leaves instead of paper or plastic bags to wrap food.
Why ? How come ?
Hoa:
Because plastic bags are very hard to dissolve, they will cause pollution. And if we use less paper, we can save trees in the forests. That’s how we can save the environments
II. Speak
* Model sentences:
- I think you should + V-inf ……
- Won’t you + V-inf….?
- It would be better if you + V-inf……
- Why don’t you + V-inf ….?
- Why not …..?
- What / how about + V-ing….?
Persuade sb to do st
II Speak :
2) Try to persuade your partner to do the following things to protect the environment .
Eg:
Lan:
Hoa:
I think it would be better if we use banana leaves instead of paper or plastic bags to wrap food.
Why ? How come ?
Hoa:
Because plastic bags are very hard to dissolve, they will cause pollution. And if we use less paper, we can save trees in the forests. That’s how we can save the environment.
II Speak :
b) Discussion: Try and persuade your partner into doing things you think the best way and most practical:
Protecting the environment:
How can we.....
- save paper? - prevent littering ?
- use fewer plastic bags ? - reduce air pollution ?
- reduce water pollution ? - reduce the amount of garbage we produce ?
C. Now discuss with a partner the best way to protect the environment. Take turns to try to persuade your partner into doing things you think the most practical. Use the ideas and the expressions for persuading in section a) and the answers to the questionnaire in b).
Ex1:
A: I think we should go to school or go to work by motorbike.
B: No, I don’t think so. I think we should go to school on foot or public buses to save energy and reduce exhaust fume.
Ex2:
A: What about reusing and recycling bottles and cans?
B: That’s a good idea. We should reuse and recycle bottles and cans to reduce garbage and save natural resources.
MATCHING

b. A lot of garbage is dropped into the sea
c. Oil comes from the land
d. A ship has an accident and oil leaks from the vessel
