Ex 1: A: Honey, I’m hungry.
B: Ok, I will cook something for you.
→ “Will” expresses a decision made at the moment of speaking( temporary, not sure)
Ex 2: A: All dishes are dirty.
B: Yes, I know. I am going to wash them later.
→ “Be going to” is used to say what we decided to do (intention)

“Be going to” also expresses a prediction based on cause/reason or the fact.
