I. Pronunciation : Stress in three - syllable words
Listen and repeat these words, then underline the stress pattern of these words:
1. happy
2. happiness
3. unhappy
4. happily
* Chú ý:
Từ một từ ta có thể tạo ra nhiều từ khác dài hơn bằng cách
thêm vào từ đó tiền tố hoặc hậu tố mà không thay đổi
trọng âm của từ ban đầu.
*Sau đây là những tiền tố & hậu tố không làm thay đổi trọng âm của từ ban đầu:
Tiền tố:
- in (incorrect)
- im ( impossible)
- un (unhappy)
- under (undergo)
Hậu tố:
-able (memorable)
-al (musical)
-ful (careful)
-ish (tallish)
-less (useless)
-ly (friendly)
-ness (happiness)
-ise/ize (civilize)

2. Trọng âm rơI vào âm tiết thứ 2 từ cuối lên:
-Với những tính từ có hậu tố là: - ic ( electric , scientific)
-Với những danh từ có hậu tố là: -ion, -ian
( calculation, Italian, education)
3. Trọng âm rơi vào âm tiết thứ 3 từ cuối lên:
- Với những từ có hậu tố là : -y
( chemistry, primary, beautify)
- Với những tính từ có hậu tố là: - al ( natural , industrial)

English, Maths and Science are compulsory in the national examination at certain stages of school education system.
