Unit 4. School education system

For children from the age of 3 to 5
Children are sent to nurseries to learn the basic knowledge of writing and counting

Children start at the age of 6
Last 5 years (from grade 1 to 5)
compulsory for all children
Those children study in primary schools
For students from grade 6 to 9
A non compulsory schooling form
Generalized throughout most of the country
Students study at junior high school
For students able to pass IGE
Consists grade 10, 11, and 12
Students study at high schools
Very important in Vietnamese students’ lives
Students must take the College Entrance Examination after SGE
only 1 out of 5 candidates succeeded
4 fixed groups of subjects:
Group A (M, P, C)
Group B (M, B, C)
Group C (L, H, G)
Group D (L, FL, M)
There are also groups: H, M, N, R, T, V
community colleges
art and technology institutes
professional secondary schools
vocational schools
