II. GRAMMAR: 1. THE PAST PERFECT TENSE
Ex: - I watched film when I had done all my homework. (1)
-I had done all my homework before 7 p.m. (2)
Use:
The past perfect tense can be used to describe:

+ an action that had happened before another past action (1)

+ an action before a point of time in the past (2)


Affirmative: S + had + PP + O.
Negative: S + had not (hadn’t) + PP + O.
Question: Had + S + PP + O ?
Yes, S + had
No, S + hadn’t
THE PAST PERFECT TENSE
Form:
Exercise 1: Use the verbs in brankets in the past perfect.

2. The simple past and past perfect

While George was reading in bed, two thieves into his kitchen. When they had entered the house, they went to the dinning room. It was very dark, so they on a torch. Suddenly they heard a voice behind them.
“What’s up? What’s up?” a voice . The thieves dropped the torch and ran away as quickly as they could.
