Wh question + aux + S + main verb ?.

Ex1: He wanted to go with me.
- The verbs can be followed by to infinitive such as:
Agree, decide, threaten, hope, expect ,plan, want …
2. To infinitive and gerund
a. To infinitive (to V).
- What kinds of music does she like listening to
- Why does she want to listen to it?.
b. Gerund (V-ing):
- Prepositions can be followed by Gerund
Ex1: I am interested in reading.
Ex2: Children enjoy reading picture- books
-The verbs can be followed by Gerund such as:
Avoid, enjoy, face, postpone, practise, suggest, miss,
detest, trouble, mind
c. To infinitive or gerund:
advise , recommend: daën doø, admit, require, consider, allow = permit.
S + V + O + to infinitive.
S + V + Gerund.
Ex: He advised me to buy that used car.
He advised buying it.
Remember, forget, regret.
To V: Refer to an action in the future.
Gerund: Refer in the past.
Ex: Do you remember to bring your book tomorrow.
I remember meeting him somewhere before.
To V: Refer to a purpose.
V – ing: feel like

To infinitive: Refer to a purpose
V – ing: ing is the object of the verb.
We stopped to ask the way.
We stopped talking.
to infinitive means “make a effort”
V – ing means “ experiment”
Ex:
You should try to get high marks in the exam.
Try learning French and you will find it interesting.

I like dancing very much.
I like to do my job well
Ex:
Exercise 2: fill each blank with an-ing or to infinitive form of the verb in brackets on page 30.
