THE RISING TUNE
Practice reading the following sentences with the rising tune.
1. Did you have a good holiday?

Notes: The rising tune is used for YES/NO questions
Work in pairs. Practise reading the conversations.

A.DEFINITION: Phrasal Verbs are combinations of verbs and prepositions or adverbs. These prepositions or adverbs are sometimes called particles
Ex: The thief broke into the house and took away all the precious items.

Inseparable : the object always goes after the articles
Ex: I ran into an old friend yesterday

B. TYPES
Note :
We don’t say :
I ran an old friend into the problem (WRONG)
Separable : the object can be put either between the verb and the particle or after the particle
Ex 1: I looked the number up in the phone book
Or I looked up the number in the phone book
Note: I looked it up in the phone number ( RIGHT)
I looked up it in the phone number. (WRONG)
