I. PRONUNCIATION
THE RISING TUNE
Practice reading the following sentences with the rising tune.
1. Did you have a good holiday?
2. Must you go now?
3. Can I go with you, Jack?
Notes: The rising tune is used for YES/NO questions
Work in pairs. Practise reading the conversations.

A.DEFINITION: Phrasal Verbs are combinations of verbs and particles resulting in different meanings from the original verbs ones.

Type 1:
Inseparable : the object always follows the particles.
Ex 1: She is looking forward to the holiday
Ex 2 : They always get on with their old friend
B. TYPES
Separable : the object can be put either between the verb and the particle or follow the particle.
Ex : I looked the number up in the phone book
Or: I looked up the number in the phone book
Note: When the object is a pronoun ( me , you , us , them, him , her , it), the particle always follows object.
Ex: I looked it up in the phone number ( RIGHT)
I looked up it in the phone number. (WRONG)
Type 2:
