Adjectives of Attitudes
Adjectives of Attitudes express the the attitudes or emotions of a person
Ex: The audience may be amazed at the painter’s brushwork, the musician’s control of a voice instrument, the dancer’s use of space, etc…
People of almost all ages are enthusiastic about seeing love movies.
Formation of Adjectives
Many adjectives have the endings with:
_able: changeable _ ible: possible
_ ish: foolish _ ive: attractive
_ like: childlike _ al: mechanical
_ic: historic _ y: lucky
_ful: beautiful _ less: careless
_ ent: efficient _ ous: dangerous
V_ing or V_ed:
Ex: an interesting story, a broken chair.
Adjectives ending in _ ing and _ed
_ ing active meaning, combine with impersonal subject
Ex: it’s an interesting film
He is frightening.
_ed passive meaning, combine with pesonal subject
Ex: I’m interested in the film
He looked frightened.
Now use the words given in parantheses to form appropriate adjectives to fill in the gaps. The first one has been answered as an example.
Parents should always be concerned about the movies their children watch. (concern)
I never watch horror movies because of their scenes. (frighten).
The children became about the cartoon. (excite)
The teacher was very much about our terrible acting. (annoy)
To tell the truth, we can’t wait to read his stories (drama).
We all find his singing quite (wonder)
We all felt the excitement about the stunt men’s performance. (breath)

Days/ months/ seasons/ holidays
