BEFORE YOU READ
Answer the following questions:
According to you, what are some global problems?
- Some global problems are the extinction of plants and animals, pollution, floods, forest fires, global warming…
What need we do to solve these problems?
- We need to plant trees, prevent killing wild animals and destroying forests and global warming, protect environment…
What is conservation?
- Conservation is the protection of natural things and valued resources.
WHILE YOU READ
1. destroy (v): - to damage sth so badly that it no
longer exists
- to kill an animal or sth
2. destruction (n): the action of destroying sth
3. constant (a): not changing or varying
4. conserve (v): to protect sth from harm
5. variety (n): a number of different types of the
same thing
vary (v) : to change sth, be different
various (a): several different
6. eliminate (v): to put an end to sth, reject sb or sth
elimination (n): rejection
7. circulation (n): - the act of passing from place to
place or person to person;
- the movement of blood around
the body.
circulate (v): to pass around
8. worsen (v): to become worse, to make sth worse
9. defence (n): the protection of sth
