Form: S + be + past participle ( PP)
* Tenses:
was / were + PP
was / were + being + PP
had been + PP
Ex: The house was painted green.
The cat was being fed when we came.
Before it rained, the seeds had been planted.
ii. Grammar: The passive voice
* Modals in passive:
Form: S + modal verb + be + PP
Ex: The date of the meeting can be changed again.
The poor should be taken care of.
The children ( reported/ were reported) to be homeless.
Trees (grow/ are grown) well in this soil.
Can English (be spoken/ speak) at the club.
I (don`t invite/ am not invited) to the parties very often.
Many new roads (are being built/ are building) in this city.
