Unit 2. My home
Lesson 1: Getting started – A look inside
Ask ss to guess what the picture might show or what the conversation may be about, what is inside the room.
Who are they? Where are they now? What are they doing?
What’s there inside the room?
Let’s listen and read and check your guessing.
1. Listen and read
- Play the recording (once or twice). Ss listen and read.
? “What is there inside Nick’s room?”
Ss practice the conversation.
- Present the vocabularies that ss ask, or the words that are necessary for doing tasks followed.
? “Are there any new words in the text?”
? “Who does Mi live with?”
? “What are the rooms of Mi’s new apartment?”
Ss do the tasks.
Tick the family members.
Complete the sentences.
? Where is Nick’s dog?
It’s sitting on the sofa.
3. T/ F statements
4. Ask and answer about the picture.
Notes:
Don’t teach every new word in the text.
Try not to explain the meaning of the words in Vietnamese (if not very neccessary).
Make a list of the lexical items related to the topic (family members; rooms; kinds of houses)
Make a list of phrases that can be used in the next lessons (if possible)
That room looks so big.
He looks happy.
Your room looks nice.
I live in the town house / country house.
Why you are doing what you are doing?
