UNIT 1: GETTING STARTED
I.Aims:
-Ss learn or consolidate basic vocabulary items related to countries, practise introductions and learn to say numbers & letters.
-Ss know how to use adjectives and practise saying prices.

-Ask Ss to look at the photographs.
-Play the tape for Ss to listen and repeat.
Guide Ss to practise the conversation in pairs.
-Have Ss look at the picture and answer the question:
“Who are they?”
-Help Ss match the flags with the countries.
-Play the tape for Ss to listen and check their answers.
-Suggest Ss the capitals of the countries.
-Ask Ss to look at the pictures.
-Play the tape for Ss to listen and complete the conversation.
-Aks them to check their answers.
-Aks Ss to practise introducing the people in the pictures to their partners.
-Go around the class to help Ss introduce themselves.
-Divide the class into groups to dictate their telephone numbers to each other.
-Guise Ss the way to say phone nubers.
-Play the tape and help Ss to say the numbers they hear.
-Ask Ss to look at the anphabet and note any differences with their own.
-Explain that the letters of the alphabet are said differently in English.
-Invite Ss to say aloud.
-Make correction if necessary.
-Play the tape for Ss to listen and repeat the letters from A to Z.
-Ask Ss to look at the picture and give the named of the object that they know.
-Divide Ss into pairs and ask each pair to complete the labels.
-Play the tape for Ss to check their answers.
-Invite Ss to give words which beginning by vowels.
-Refer Ss to the rules for a/an.
-Ask Ss to look at the expressions and ask to practise saying them pairs.
-Ask Ss to look at the membership cards.
-Supply new words.
-Play the tape for Ss to listen and complete the information on the card.
-Play again to check.
-Guide Ss to complete the questions by listening the tape.

-Ask Ss to look at the pictures
-“How do we make plural?”
-Give some irregular words:
eg: man, chidren, people…
-“How do we make plurals of the words that ended in_s,x.ch.o.sh?
-Play the tape for Ss listen and repeat.
-Explain meaning of the adjectives.
-Give examples.
-Guide Ss to write adjs under the correct pictures.
-Feedback.
-Ask Ss to put the words in order and check the answer with the class.
-Divide the class in to pairs and ask about the colour of different objects in the classroom or book.
-Play the tape for Ss to listen and put V or X next to each number.
-Play again to check.
-Play the tape for Ss to listen and make a note of what the people buy.
-Check the answer.
