Gender equality in employment
TASK 1: Look at the symbols. What do they stand for?
They are the symbols of genders, gender equality and gender discrimination.
Vocabulary:
pursue : (v) mưu cầu, theo đuổi
sue : (v) kiện ai ra tòa
limitation : (n) sự hạn chế, sự giới hạn
loneliness : (n) sự cô đơn
preference : (n) sự ưu tiên

- They became the targets of laughter and anger from the co-worker and local people They were unwelcomed at meals, faced loneliness and even violence.
4. What jobs did they do at FDNY?
- They had to do exactly the same jobs as all other male firefighters.
5. What is Taking the Heat?
It is a documentary made in 2006 in which Brenda Berkman and other female firefighters were the subjects.
6. What does Brenda Berkman`s story show?
- It shows that gender differences can not prevent a person from pursuing a job.
