A long time ago, in a far-away country, there was a king whose name was Adam. He had a beautiful and clever daughter, Princess Lisa. Lisa grew up and became a beautiful lady. King Adam wanted to find her a good husband . Lisa told her father that she was already to get married, but only to a man who was not good to look at. She said “He will love me, and i will love him. I can change a bad man into a good husband”. Her father was sad and very angry. He decided to send his servants to find a poor, urgly husband for Lisa. One week later, the servants brought back a man to the king. Then the king asked Lisa to come. She was surprised to see an ugly man crying on the floor. She thought he was going to die. The king told her that the man was for her and she had to look after him well. Lisa now had a husband, but he was dirty and could not walk straight because his back was bent. That night when everybody was sleeping, Lisa took her husband into the jungle. They built a small house across the river. The king was sad without Lisa. Lisa worked very hard day and night. She made her husband, Albert, stand up properly to get his food, which she put high above him. She did it very often, and after one year Albert was able to stand up straight. Slowly, Albert became healthier and stronger. He was now clean and good-looking. They loved each other very much. Sad new came ti King Adam. A wicked monster appeared in his kingdom. The king was very unhappy because no one could catch or kill the monster which drank the blood of the people every night. So Albert went to find the monster. He was strong that he killed it easily. He cut the monster’s head and went back to his house in the jungle. The next morning, many men said to the king, “ I killed the monster”. The king did not know whom to believe. Then Albert came back to the palace and showed the king the monster’s head. The king believe Albert himself killed the monster. He promised to give the young man a wonderful present when he came back in three day’s time.




THE FAIRY IN A PICTURE
Lam was a young man who worked hard. His parents died when he was very young. One day, when he came back from the field, he saw a picture in front of the door. It was the picture of a beautiful girl. Lam likes it and hung it on a wall in the house. He looked at it every day. One evening, when he came back as usual, he found that his meal was already. Lam left hungry. He atethe delicious dinner but he did not know who had cook the meal for him. Such strange things happened day after day. So Lam planned to discover the truth. One morning, he pretended to go to work. He did himself outside the house, and waited quiet until the sun went down. At last, he heard a voice and he ran quickly into the house. He found a beautiful girl there. When she saw Lam, she was afraid and tried to run away. Lam stopped her and asked her to tell him about herself. She said, “I am the youngest daughter of the moon god. I change and hide myself in the picture. I like you and want to help you because you are honest and you work hard”. They loved each other very much and married afterwards. A few year later, she has a son. They were vary happy. But the moon god knew that. He became very angry with his daughter, and sent soldiers down from the moon to take her back. But she refused to leave the earth and her family. The soldiers said that they would kill her husband and son if she did not go back with them. So she was forced to leave. Lam was vary sad. He never married again. He looked after his son well, and often told him about his mother.
