Andy Lipkis was 15 years old when he went camping in the mountains near Los Angeles, California. He soon discovered that many of trees there had been damaged or killed by pollution from the city . Although he was still a teenager,he wanted to do something to change the situation. He got all the campers together and suggested planting trees to replace those that had died. Together,They planted 8000 trees .
Encouraging people to plant trees is still main interest. He is now in his fifties and is a leader of an organization called Tree People. It teaches children how trees can create a healthy environment.Tree People also helps teenagers as well as adults to plant and care for trees around their schools, homes, and in the neighborhood.
