I. OVERVIEW:
Aims and objectives:
Aims: To help Ss to greet and introduce about their names.
Objectivies: By the end of the lesson, Ss will be able to greet and introduce about their names.
Language focus
Phonics: /ai/ as “I”; /h/ as in “ hello, hi ”.
Vocabulary: Words to greet and introduce oneself: hello, hi. I, am, Nam, Mai, Nga, Phong,…
Grammar: Hello / Hi. I’m (Mai)
Teaching aids: pictures, Tieng Anh 3 Book 1, tape and radio.

1. Warm up

2. Presentation
Lead in:
- T asks some Ss some questions in English or in Vietnamese:
+ What will you say when you meet other person?
+ Will you greet her/ him?
+ Will you introduce about your name with her/him

*Vocabulary:
- T uses pictures on the book or flashcards to teach the names Mai, Nam, Nga, Phong to elicit new words:
Hello, hi:
I’m Mai:
I’m Nam:
I’m Nga:
I’m Phong:
-T gets Ss to repeat new words in chorus.

E.g: hello, hello, hello.
-Asks some Ss to show the pictures on the textbook and say new words again.




*Structure
-T draws two bubbles on the board: One is Mai. Other is Nam.






-T points and repeats the dialouge. Asks Ss to listen and repeat.
-Divides the class into two groups to repeat a dialouge.




- Ss listen, understand and answer T’s questions in Englis or in Vietnamese.







- Ss look at the pictures and remember.







-Ss listen and repeat after T in chorus about twice or three times.
Ss: hello, hello, hello…
-Some Ss to show the pictures on the textbook and say new words again.
E.g: S1 points at Mai and says: I’m Mai
S2 points at Nam and says: I’m Nam

-Ss look at the board.








-Ss listen and repeat.


-The class divides into two groups to repeat a dialouge.
One group is Mai: Hello. I’m Mai.
Other group is Nam: Hi, Mai. I’m Nam.

3. Practice
Look, listen and repeat
-Asks Ss to open the book page on 6, look at the picture and identify the characters and what are they doing in the picture.
-Tells them that they are going to hear Mai, Nam to greet each other and self- introduce.
-Plays the recording for Ss to listen, following the text.
-Asks Ss to point to the approperiate speech bubble in their books.
Mai: Hello. I’m Mai.
Nam: Hi, Mai. I’m Nam.
-Divides the class into two groups to repeat the dialouge.





-Ask Ss to repeat the dialouge in pairs.




-Asks whole class to repeat both of characters in chorus to reinforce Ss’ pronunciation.

Look and say
-Has Ss to look at pictures a, b, c, and d on page 6. Asks them to identify the characters in the pictures. Tells Ss that they are going to identify the people in the pictures.
-Asks Ss to repeat a few times.
I’m Nam, I’m Mai, I’m Nga, I’m Phong.
-Asks Ss to practise greeting and self- introduce in pairs.
-Monitor the activities, checking the pronunciation, offering help when necessary
