Dùng thì quá khứ bàng thái để chỉ ước nguyện cho hiện tại:
S1 + wish/ wishes + S2 + Vqk/ were
Eg:
1. Fact : She is a student.
She wishes she were a doctor now.
2. Fact: He doesn’t have a car.
He wishes he had a car
Dùng “could” để chỉ khả năng không có thực ở hiện tại
S1 + wish/ wishes + S2 + could + V
Eg:
Fact : He can’t play the guitar
I wish he could play the guitar.
III. Dùng “would/ could” để chỉ ước nguyện cho tương lai :
S1 + wish/ wishes + S2 + would/ could + V
Eg:
They wish they would visit Hue tomorrow.
We wish we could drive a car next month.
