1.Khái niệm
Câu điều kiện loại 3 dùng để diễn tả hành động, sự việc không có thật trong quá khứ.
Eg: If John hadn’t drunk
coffee last night, he could have
slept well

3.Lưu ý
* Đảo ngữ của câu điều kiện loại 3.
- Thường được dùng ở dạng đảo ngữ.
Example: Had I studied hard, I would have passed the exam.
* If . . . not = Unless
- Unless cũng thường được dùng trong câu điều kiện: Example: If you hadn`t suggested it, I wouldn`t have phoned him.
= Unless you had suggested it,
I wouldn`t have phoned him.
Những cách khác để diễn tả câu điều kiện:
Suppose (giả sử), provided (that) (miễn là), on condition that (với điều kiện là), If only (ước gì), but for (nếu không vì) …
Eg: But for the storm, we would have arrived earlier
