Task A : Read the following passage carefully.
Mount Pinatubo is an active volcano in the Philippines, in the central part of te island of Luzon. It is almost 90 km north of Manila and about 24 km east of Angeles. In June and July of the year 1991, the volcano erupted several times, throwing millions of tons of ash anh other volcanic material over 15000m high into the atmosphere. The ash reached a depth of more than 3 m. Heavy tropical rains turned the ash to mud. By late August 1991, it was estimated that 550 people had died because of te eruption and its aftermath. In addition, more than 650000 people had lost their livelihood, and 100000 hectares of agricultural land had been devastated.
