What is grammar?
Grammar is a set of components: phonetics, morphology, syntax, phonology, semantics or meaning.
Today the tendency is “Forget grammar, teach the language people speak, and let your students have fun!”

Grammar is very important
Students can communicate with native speaker effectively when they are taught grammar in a correct way.
Grammar is the backbone of a language and without it sentences you say may be misunderstood, in a sort of jelly without much consistency.
Grammar provides you with the structures you need in order to organize and put your messages and ideas together.

Implications of the survey

Give them exercises for them to practice the new structure. Do not be afraid of using grammar drills and patterns. They could be VERY useful for them to fix the new structures in their brains

Teach grammar should not be taught in an isolated way but put into social context

Limit the time you devote to grammar explanations to 10 minutes, especially for lower level students whose ability to sustain attention can be limited.

Teaching the rules of grammar is essential if students are to learn to communicate effectively
Grammar should be taught in both inductive and deductive way, it depends on level of knowledge of students
Present grammar points in written and oral ways to address the needs of students with different learning styles.
Teaching grammar in CLT focuses on forms (both meaning and form)

For example:
Booking Clerk (at a small village station): You’ll have to change twice before you get to York.
Villager (unused to traveling): Goodness me! And I’ve only brought the clothes I’m wearing.
Change (1) take anther bus or train.
Change (2) put on other clothes.
