Topic: Describe an enjoyable party that you have attended Outline: 1. Describe briefly your invitation to the party and the preparations for the party. 2. Describe the costumes of the party-goers, the food and the dancing. 3. Describe how you felt about the party. I could hardly contain my delight when I received an invitation to a “Horror Party” which has held in honor of Countess Dracula’s birthday. The Countess was actually my best friend, Sandra, and she wanted a special party to celebrate her fourteenth birthday. The day before the party, some of us went to Sandra’s house to decorate the place. We paid attention to all the details, covering the lights with colored cellophane paper and even decorating the trays with tinsel. We also put up all kinds of weird decorations on the wall to give the place an eerie look. At end of the day, our efforts were rewarded for the place did look rather like Countess Dracula’s home – so Sandra’s father said. Most of the guests arrived punctually, eager to get the party going. Everyone had taken pains to come up with an appropriate costume. In fact, my costume was so good that hardly anyone recognized me. It had taken me weeks to complete the black sequined gown and the painted mask. The cake in the shape of a haunted castle, complete with cobwebs made of candy floss, brought shrieks of delight from the guests. The cake was a chocolate mousse and was extremely delicious. When the music started, we were thrilled. The colorful lights and the fast music added to the lively atmosphere. We grabbed partners and danced to our hearts’ delight. The hours passed quickly and all too soon, the party came to an end. I was grateful not only to Sandra for inviting me to the party, but also to her parents for being so broadminded as to allow us teenagers such a wonderful treat. That was indeed a party that I shall never forget.
IELTS Speaking Part 3: `parties` topic
In part 2 of the speaking test you might be asked to a . Here are some part 3 questions that could follow that topic:
1. What types of party do people have, and why are parties important?
People have parties to celebrate special occasions like birthdays, weddings, or the beginning of a new year. I think it`s important to celebrate these things because they are landmarks in our lives. Parties are a good way to bring people together, and they`re an opportunity to off some .
2. Why do you think some people like parties but others hate them?
Most people like parties because they have a good time at them - eating a nice meal, chatting to friends, or having a dance. People who don`t like them might find social situations difficult because they are shy, or maybe they don`t enjoy having to make small talk with people they don`t know.
3. Do you think parties will become more popular in the future?
No, I don`t think anything will change. People have always had parties, and I`m sure they always will in the future. Humans need to socialise and enjoy themselves, and parties are one of the best ways to do that.
A friend`s birthday

It was partly the best because we had so much fun planning and executing it.  Some of my friends and I threw a party for every birthday in the group.  So when it was birthday time, you weren`t exactly surprised when everyone showed up eventually and we had a party.  The best one we ever did, though, started with duck duck goose.  We all got together and started to play duck-duck-goose.  Eventually it was the birthday boy`s turn to walk around the circle.  As soon as he said "goose," the person he chose jumped up and ran out of the room.  We all kind of said to each other, "well, that`s weird, but we should keep playing, they`ll be back in a minute."  So we went back to playing and the same thing happened again!  Unsurprisingly, our birthday boy figured out that something was up.  Eventually there was only one person left.  That one person told the BB (birthday boy) that he was on a quest and gave him a clue to find the most recently run off person.  After listening to the clue, he went off to find that person who had the clue to the person before them and so on.  We all adopted strange accents and new personas as we went on this "quest".  Tragically, just as it looked like we`d all be found or saved from enchantment or whatever, two of our team members were kidnapped and held captive by an evil spider-monster.  Arming our hero with a shoe (hey - spider) and blindfolding him, we set him against the monster (pinata) until one was victorious (BB, come on, how is a pinata gonna win?).  We naturally filmed this bit and watched it later for great humor.  Then we ate cake, which I`m pretty sure was
