Social origin
In 1620, the Pildrim made a difficult trip across the ocean from England to the New York to search the freedom religious.
The Pildrim’s first winter was very hard. Almost half of the group died of cold, hunger and diseases. Fortunately, the Native Americans of Massachusets taught them to plant corn, to hunt, to fish.
When the next fall came, the Pildrim had plenty of food. They invited the Native Americans to join them. This was the first Thanhsgiving.
Religiuos origin
Traditionaly, Thanhsgiving is associated with giving thanks to God for the harvest and expressing gratitude.
It also be called Harvest Festival.
It was celebrated at churches in USA on Sunday to remark the end of harvest with party, dancing, firework.
Thanksgiving became a national holiday
For forty year, Sarah Hale-a journalist wrote to each president and ask for a holiday of Thanksgiving. At last she was successful.
In 1863, President Clinton declared Thanksgiving then Thanksgiving became a national holiday for us to celebrate and give thanks.
The spirit of Thanksgiving holiday

It is an occassions for people to meet together especially to turn back to their home.
The family and friends’ present at Thanksgiving table are not expected to give gifts to each other.
The point of the meal is to reflect upon and be thankful for the things that have pass over the last year.
Celebrating Thanksgiving holiday

Special meal
To celebrate thankgiving many American families cook a special meal.
In the center of table, there is a big roasted turkey, which is the main dish of thanks giving.
Many American would say it is “incomplete without cranberry sauce, stuffing or dressing or gravy”
Dessert: pumkin pies are popular
Drink: it’s depend on who is present at the table and their tastes.
Parade
The parade is celebrated with specific themes, scenes from Broadway plays, large balloons of cartoon characters and TV personalities, and high school marching bands.
The end of Parade is the Santa Claus’s parade that is sign of the beginning of the Christmas season.
Turkey trot
A turkey trot is a fun run or footrace that is held on or around Thanksgiving day in the USA.
Some organization hold their Turkey Trot in order to provide festival holiday meals for homeless and low--income families in the community.
They make a fund to charity .
Black Friday
It’s the biggest chance for people to go shopping.
The American Christmas reason traditionally begins the day after Thanksgiving, it is known as “Black Friday” although most stores start to slock for and promote the December holidays immediately after Halloween or earlier.
