Objectives of teaching english
at primary level in Vietnam
1. Skills: speaking, listening, reading, writing

2. Knowledge: basic and simple knowledge about English-speaking countries

3. Attitude: positive attitude toward English

Why teach writing?
1. Support memorisation
2. Practise vocabulary and sentence patterns used in speaking, listening, reading
3. Practise language skills: word selection, spelling, word reordering, using structures, linking words, …
4. Lead to more automatic use of the language
